Watching Survivor
Wednesday, January 31st, 2007
When someone mentions reality television, it’s hard to not think about Survivor. First aired during the summer of 2000, the show that stranded castaways on a deserted island unleashed the floodgates for other reality shows to follow and become successful. Now in it’s fourteenth season, it still attracts viewers and shows little sign of letting up.
Watching Survivor is a chance for me to write about a show I have watched religiously since the first season. It is a chance for this Survivor junkie to cover the show, dig for what happens behind the scenes, and discover what’s interesting with the cast and crew and share it with those other junkies out there. What could be more fun than that?
Well, an obvious answer for me is to actually be on the show. What viewer hasn’t wished that at one point or another? I did after the first season and even sent in an application. Yes, I know; being stranded on an island for 39 days may not be the idea of fun for many, but I bet all you other Survivor lovers out there can understand, can’t you?
So, over the course of the new season, I will be writing daily about Survivor and all things Survivor related that I discover. I hope that you enjoy reading it as much as I know I’ll enjoy writing about it. I also look forward to hearing from fellow Survivor enthusiasts, so don’t hesitate to leave a comment or send me a message.
Now it’s time to “Outwit, Outplay, and Outlast” during our journey to discover the “Sole Survivor”.
