Most annoying Survivors!

Monday, April 30th, 2007

While wandering around the fun that is the Survivor: Wiki! (Seriously, I could get LOST there) I had to laugh to see the page of the Most Annoying Survivors! The idea is that having an All Star season with just the rejects, castaways, etc. that caused the most drama would certainly be an exciting season! From those who just drove us insane, to the stupidity and the most annoying - they had quite the lineup:

Borneo: Sean Kenniff
Borneo: Sue Hawk
Australian Outback:Debb Eaton
Africa: Diane Ogden
Marquesas: Gabrial Cade
Thailand: Ted Rodgers
The Amazon: Matthew Von Ertfelda
Pearl Islands: Jon Dalton
Pearl Island: Osten Taylor
Vanuatu:Ami Cusack
Vanuatu: Leann Slaby
Palau: Wanda Shirk
Palau: Janu Tornell
Guatemala: Judd Sergeant
Guatemala: Jamie Newton
Exile Island: Shane Powers
Exile Island: Courtney Marit
Cook Islands: Billy Garcia
Fiji: James “Rocky” Reid
Fiji: Lisi Linares

I don’t think Wanda should be on there. Sure, she made a Survivor Song and sang it - but she never got to play! How can we declare her truly annoying if she never got to spend more then a few moments on Survivor at all?

So, what changes would YOU make?

“Blackmail or Betrayal” Episode 11 Recap!

Friday, April 27th, 2007

Ooooooooooh things are heating up, just like Jeff Probst promised! We open with Mookie and Alex lamenting the fact that Dreamz doublecrossed them. Dreamz speaks to Stacy, and Earl, and they convince Dreamz that they were worried that Dreamz had been fed bad information about who had the idol, Alex or Mookie, so they took the safe route.

Dreamz totally buys it. Duh.

Earl and the rest of the Alliance celebrated, as they are 6 strong. And we have proof that Stacy is done being nice and back to her nasty self with the whispered comment “We don’t have to even stress it. They’ll be lucky if they get fed.” So sweet, that Stacy…

Day 28 opens with Mookie and Alex still complaining about Dreamz and his double cross, calling him a true traitor. Dreamz comes up and asks why they weren’t hanging out anymore, that they all got outwitted the night before. They accuse him of turning on them, and he defends himself with his usual getto lisp that we could hardly understand, and said he didn’t know what was going on. He declares in secret that he’ll need their votes at the end, so had to make nice.

We’re whisked away to the Reward Challenge. They’re divided into two teams, and one teammate will launch the balls, while the others slip and slide and dive into the mud to catch the balls in a catch basket. Doesn’t matter which ball they catch, they all count. First team to five wins reward - a ride on a seaplane to a shower, food and bed and sending one loser to Exile Island.

The teams:
Orange: Yau-man launching to Boo, Cassandra and Mookie
Green: Stacy launching to Dreamz, Earl, and Alex.

First launch: Yau-man goes too deep, and Stacy goes directly to Earl, who has it but lets it bounce out.
Second Launch: Boo out reaches Dreamz, and grabs an orange point from Yau-man, Mookie steals the green to get another point for the Orange team. Score Orange 2, Green 0.

There’s several misses, and the game gets physical, including a chokehold by Cassandra on Earl who’s shocked and complains. Jeff tells them it’s up to them to decide how physical they want to get, and all hell breaks lose with pushing and shoving and the like.

Boo makes a diving attempt, but comes up short, and Stacy goes high and long, connecting nicely with Dreamz to get Green’s first point. Boo and Alex go after the next on together, Boo slips and starts yelling in pain. The Med team is called in, and Boo’s certain its his “ACL or something” in his right knee. He stands up to see if he can hold his weight on it and we hear it pop back into place. EVERYONE cringes. Me included. He bounces around and slides around on it a little bit to be sure it’s back in place, and declares that “Yessir” he wants to keep playing.

The next launch sees Boo going for it full throttle, knocked away by Alex, while Dreamz catches another point for Green, tying the score once again. Mookie yells “Yau!” and gestures wildly with a look of… well, disgust or annoyance on his face. Yau-Man then goes short, hitting Mookie to put Orange back in the lead, 3-2 - which wipes the annoyance off Mookie’s face.

Dreamz catches the next one and ties it up again, and Mookie starts screaming at Yau again. Alex tries to catch the next one, and Cassandra trips him, but misses it. Yau hits Mookie way left, and Orange leads 4-3. Mookie gestures for Yau-man to watch for the break and go right back to him again, Yau-Man does and Alex sneaks in and steals it, tying it up yet again, 4-4!

Boo has a shot, and misses, and Stacy goes deep to Dreamz who wins reward for Green team! They decide to send Boo to Exile Island because he’s been living the life of Luxury, then hands Stacy, Alex, Dreamz and Earl the basket of bath supplies and shoos them off to the plane and their reward, while the others return to camp to bathe with the Water Snakes. Oh Goody!

On Exile Island, Boo gets the first clue to the re-hidden idol. (Snake Sighting! I guess I can’t complain, it has been a couple weeks…) He admits that he is glad that it’s back at camp, as his knee hurts, as does his ankle. He’s out of water and nearing heat exhaustion.

We join team green at the reward, on the plane, where Alex declared he’s going to weasel his way back into the alliance. Then they head straight to the shower where we get to listen to Stacy moan in the shower and Earl declare he’s getting his sexy back. Stacy’s voice over admits that it was awkward having Alex there. At dinner, he says that he’s been a gentlemen in game play, and minimizing his showboating to which Stacy adds a single word: Sometimes. Ladies and Gentlemen - we’ve got our bitch back!

Alex then goes to talk to Earl, and do his best to flip a couple opinions, stating that a Lion is most dangerous when backed against the wall. He asks what the voting order will be, and Earl won’t give it up, because the game isn’t over. Alex says that Mookie wants to go, and Earl just smiles “that’s why he might not go first.” That Earl - he’s a smart one!

The next morning, the winners return and are told they smell like apples and strawberries and he could smell them from the beach! He knows the trip was great, but didn’t want to hear it. He knows he’s in danger, but declares his heart is still in it.

Later, Mookie and Dreamz are talking, and Mookie decides that Yau-Man must have the idol, as he’s the only one in camp. He takes Alex over while Yau-Man is out fishing and goes through his things, and discovers the Idol. Wild theorizing begins as they try to decide what they can do with the information - they sneak off to strategize, and unknowingly sit right next to Cassandra and Stacy who are toasting being the last two girls and a long prosperous game together with pineapples. They hear the boys coming and crouch down and listen.

Alex and Mookie try to figure out how they can use the information to their advantage, and they decide they want to prove Yau-Man a liar, ask him if he has it, and when he says no, make him turn out his pockets and him reveal he has it. Alex celebrates two great brains working together to at least go out swinging. I don’t see how this plan could work at ALL - and it quickly goes downhill when one of the girls moves, and they are found out. Alex and Mookie go rushing back to camp to put their plan into action early, and go directly to Yau-man, and threaten to tell everyone if he doesn’t.

At this point it seems they’re just hoping to stir up the pot, and go down swinging. Alex declares “we’re screwed” and he’s never been more right.

As they’re rushing back, Stacy admits they couldn’t really hear what was saying - which is hysterical! They think they’re busted, and now they’re going to tattle on themselves!

So they go to Yau-man, and gives him their ultimatum. Yau-man just tells them to do whatever they deem necessary, because he feels he’s at a point he doesn’t really need it yet as he’s in the majority alliance. But Yau-Man does decide to tell the alliance about it. He tells Stacy that he has it, they found it, and are now trying to blackmail him. Stacy is offended that they went through Yau-Man’s things, and blames Alex, even though we know it was Mookie. She tells several of the others that her “heart is hurting” because of it, and Cassandra is pissed as well that they went through personal belongings. Earl is amused (as was I!) that everyone is more pissed off about the fact they went through Yau-Man’s things, rather then the fact that hello! Yau-Man has the idol and told no one! Though it does put a crimp in things because it’s now wide-spread knowledge. Time for plan B. Yau-man says the worst that could happen is Mookie and Alex win personal immunity, and get Boo and Dreamz to vote with them and force a tie at Tribal Council.

And of course that means it’s time for the Immunity Challenge!
Boo rejoins them from Exile Island for a game that will involve memory and strategy. They each will secretly select three squares in a row, then it’s a giant game of battle ship as they name squares and try to knock each other out. On the board they are looking at to declare their moves, they only get to see an X for a hit, nothing for a miss, and memory comes in immediately because they have to remember who was hit where to work the board strategically. Last Tribemate standing wins Immunity. We’re shown where they all choose via graphic, and they all start guessing.

Dreamz hits right away, and hits HIMSELF, Earl and Boo. Whoops!
Cassandra hits and ALSO hits HERSELF and Yau-man. Whoops times TWO.
Mookie hits Earl.
Earl hits Mookie, Cassandra and Alex
Yau-Man hits Boo, Dreamz and knocks Earl out of the game.
Stacy hits Boo and Dreamz and knocks them both out of the game. Watch out guys! She’s thinking!
Alex misses.
Cassandra misses.
Mookie hits Cassandra and knocks her out of the game.
Yau-Man hits Mookie and Stacy
Alex misses.
Stacy picks a square already picked - a mistake, or on purpose?
Mookie hits Alex.
Yau-man hits Mookie and takes him out of the game.
Alex hits Yau-man.

At this point, Yau-man has two, Alex has two, Stacy has one. Stacy proves she was paying close attention and makes the BEST move on the board - she hits herself, and in the process takes both Yau-Man and Alex out of the game, and thus wins immunity! She might be a bitch, but that was WELL done!

Back at camp, Alex admits his back is against the wall, and he and Mookie decide if they’re going down, they’re gonna start a little hell first. (Snake sighting 2! EW!) Dreamz and Earl are discussing who to vote for - they want Alex, because he’s stronger, and Mookie has checked out mentally and thus is easier beaten. Earl then goes discuss the idol clue with Boo. As a group they worry that it might be easy to find, and they don’t want to risk the fact that they’ve got one and decide to split the vote three and three, and force a tie. Then they can make a choice when no idol has been played and vote Alex. Earl doesn’t like it - but goes with the flow. Good boy!

Alex says that they’re going out swinging, and he’s got one vote, so he’s got to make it count. At this point, I turn to the kids and go “OMG! He’s going to vote for MOOKIE and save himself!” The kids’ eyes get wide and they declare I’m the SMARTEST MOM EVER, and we eagerly watch it play out at:

Tribal Council.
They start talking about the Reward Challenge, and how things have shifted a bit, and that the rats and snakes had come out. Mookie talks about the backstabbing of the last TC, and we get a shot of Yau-Man and Earl grinning. Jeff asks Mookie “Mookie, what did you do?” And he admits that he ‘found’ an immunity idol in Yau-Man’s bag. And Jeff points out that this comes out right after hearing about snakes and rats, and declares it as “snaky and ratty as you can get, going through someone’s personal belongings.”

He asks Yau-Man what he feels about it, and while Yau-Man agrees it’s pretty bad, he makes a bold statement, that it won’t matter for the next few rounds anyway. Jeff is surprised, and Yau-Man clarifies “the next couple, anyway.” and admits he will have to change his strategy. Earl admits that he’s pissed off, because it was a serious abuse of Trust. Jeff asks Dreamz something about how its hard to know who’s been lying, and Dreamz just says he’s trying to find out where he stands.

Alex agrees that yes, there are people are coasting, and folks will find out that Karma is immediate, and they will have to answer to others about how they got so far in the game. And it’s time for the vote.

And they show only Mookie - who votes for Boo, and then Alex, who puts down MOOKIE! I was RIGHT! HA! He says he’s “Just trying to stay here another day, buddy. Good Luck.” Jeff goes to tally the votes, no idol is played, and the votes are read:

Alex, Alex, Mookie, Boo, Mookie, Mookie, Alex, and the 11th person voted out and the 5th member of the jury, Mookie.

Mookie

Jeff says that based on what was heard tonight, there’s a strong alliance of 6, and Alex, which makes him odd man out, or very valuable. Mookie’s last words: “You know I’m pretty relieved, though it would have been nice to be back in the game” and that he wishes he was back there making life hell - it’s a grass is greener type of situation, but he is glad he’s out.

While this wasn’t QUITE as good as last week - it was still a fantastic episode, with lots of twists and turns, betrayal and backstabbing - the basics for any good Survivor Episode!

Next week:
Alex goes undercover like a ninja, Boo annoys everyone -even Dreamz, and the reward challenge gets primal.

Edgardo, working the Interview Circuit!

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

I finally got a chance to watch last Friday’s Survivor: Live with Edgardo. Stephenie LaGrossa guest-hosted and looks FANTASTIC, doesn’t she? So pretty!

Edgardo looks pretty too, all clean cut and shaven and well. Yeah, bring back the scruffy sexiness! Anyway, he points out that the game started to go wrong with Lisi’s boot, and Mookie’s sudden switch of personality and obsession with keeping the Hidden Immunity Idol to himself.

His opinion on Dreamz: He had a big mouth like Rocky, but doesn’t stop with just opinion, spouts out all of his strategy too and is all over the place. He swears he saw it coming to a certain extent because his name didn’t come up in all the pre-TC scramble and usually the one who’s name comes up is the one who gets the boot. He pulled Alex aside and had a lil Spanish powwow, and told him it was Alex or him - and if they start writing, and take a long time, its definitely him who was going.

Jerry from California asked who Edgardo felt was most to blame for his demise, and he thinks the biggest mistake was Mookie telling Dreamz they had the idol. And, about his “prowess” with the bow and arrow challenge… “aw, that hurt me a little bit man, but is ok, is ok..” and “I swear! I had the fisher price bow and arrow man, my hands were too big, and my hands were sweaty!” They even made a makeshift bow and arrow to practice with, and he was hitting everything.

And that’s where my computer decided to take a dive! So you’ll have to head to CBS yourself, and catch the rest of the show.

However! I do have Edgardo’s Minus Ten for you:

And, as with all the Voted off Survivors, Edgardo’s been hitting the interview circuit. Catch him here, here, here and here!

The Infamous Tribal Council!

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

For those who missed it:

And how COULD you? Here’s the quickly growing infamous tribal council from Thursday Night. I looked for screen shots of Mookie, Alex and Edgardo’s faces, and found this instead. Even better!

What do we have to look forward to this week? Apparently someone

Boo

(preview screen caps via Survivor Fever - it’s Boo!) gets hurt and might have to leave the game, (….hahahahahah! Didn’t I call that AGES ago?) and

blackmail

there is blackmail, and betrayal, and Yau-man says that they will do anything, because ‘they are desperate’!

Man! And it’s only MONDAY! T-3 days and counting!

“It’s a turtle?” Episode 10 Recap!

Friday, April 20th, 2007

The plotting! The shifting! The alliances! The Ambush! OH MY! Let’s get right into the recap, hm?

Night 24
We pick up right where we left off last week, with the return of the ‘tribe in a tribe’ from Tribal Council where the bastards voted out my cutie Michelle. Tensions are clearly high as people struggle to figure out just who’s aligned with whom, and which members can be trusted completely. (Hello! None of them! ha!)

Mookie admits that he’s upset at Dreamz for voting out Michelle, saying they screwed themselves. Alex claims it was all a misunderstanding that caused him to target Michelle instead of Stacy, and then starts right in on Mookie about his being the one holding onto the immunity idol and how that makes him feel vulnerable, that Mookie has all the power. Mookie tries to protest, but we all know that’s exactly what he’s doing!

Then, Mookie confronts Dreamz about it, asking what he’s supposed to do to preserve themselves, while Alex demands they rotate the idol possession and jumps him about his vote for Michelle. “Trust me, you just screwed both of us!”

Meanwhile, Dreamz is more intent on watching a moth then listening, and looking decidedly… under some influence… while doing it. Not a good look for the boy!

s14e10ign_0044.jpg

Day 25: The Morning After
Tension is definitely the name of the game at Bula-Bula. Earl is shocked and disappointed to have Stacy return instead of Michelle and mourns the loss of his little spy. Boo makes a move to join Earl, Yau-man, Cassandra. Earl doesn’t trust him, but knows they need his vote. Earl is definitely playing a smart game - more so then I ever thought he would at the beginning of the Season.

Reward Challenge!
Everyone is given a series of questions to answer privately, and then they come back together and Jeff will read the questions, and they answer the question according to what they think the group consensus was. Each Tribe Member has three towers. When they answer correctly, they get to smash another players tower - all three smashed, they are out of the game. Last one standing wins Reward.

The questions:
1. Who would you trust with your life: Earl
Cassandra, Boo and Yau-man got it correct, and without wasting any time knock Stacy out of the game, one - two - three.
2. Who are you least likely to invite to a family dinner: Boo (who’s reply to that was “…wow.”)
Mookie hits Boo, Dreamz hits Boo, Alex his Boo and knocks him out. Cassandra hits Alex.
3. Who most has a sense of entitlement: Alex
Cassandra hits Alex, Mookie hits Earl.
4. Who would you most like to be stranded on an Island with: Yau-man
Everyone got it right except Alex. Earl hits Mookie, Dreamz hits Alex, Edgardo hits Earl, Yau-man hits Edgardo, Cassandra hits Mookie.
5. Who do you not want to see again after the game: Stacy
Dreamz hits Yau-Man, Edgardo retaliates and hits Yau-man, Yau-man hits Dreamz, Mookie hits Cassandra and Cassandra hits Mookie.
6. Who smells the worst (Earl raises his hand. Hahaha!): Dreamz is nodding, he knows.
Cassandra hits Yau-man, Dreamz hits Edgardo.
7. Who mistakingly believes they are in control of the game: Alex
Cassandra takes out Edgardo - and then there were two.
8. Who has wasted this great opportunity: Stacy
Cassandra hits Dreamz.
9. Who out here has surprised you the most with the athleticism: Yau-man
Cassandra is right, hits Dreamz, and wins the Reward challenge without missing a single question! Perhaps Cassandra has been paying more attention then she seems while coasting under the radar!

She sends Mookie to Exile Island, and gets her boarding pass to the yacht, and she also gets to choose three to go with her, once back at camp. She leaves with a big smile, and who can blame her?

s14e10ign_0041.jpg

Mookie, on exile, is aaaaangry that he’s there and says that Cassandra made the worse mistake of her life. He realizes there must be another idol, and figures Earl has it, wants to take out Cassandra and her alliance - revenge all the way, baby!

Cassandra uses her reward wisely to take Dreamz and Boo so that she can see where exactly they stand in the alliance, and also takes Yau-man, because he works hard and deserves the break on the yacht. Yau-man and Cassandra want to “brainwash them, basically” while they enjoy their reward. Boo is in 100% he says, but they know Dreamz isn’t quite with them yet. He can’t keep it off his face, and they all know he’s waffling.

Day 27
Back at camp, Dreamz tells Alex his name is coming up - and while they’re strategizing, Earl walks up on them and catches Dreamz fraternizing with the enemy. He admits part of him wants to let Dreamz go, that he’s not trusted yet.

Cassandra, Dreamz and Earl talk, and want something solid from Dreamz and to earn their trust, so he up and tells them that Mookie has an immunity Idol. This is where we get the title of this episode, as Earl asks what it looks like and is told “It’s a turtle!” Earl does a pretty good job of acting surprised, and they start thinking about how it will all play out.

Immunity Challenge!
Tribal immunity is no more, it’s all about individual immunity from now on. They will use arms to brace between two walls, while their feet are on two very narrow wooden pegs. Every 30 minutes they step down to a smaller peg (1 in, ½ in, ¾ in). Arms, hands and feet only - no back, butt, hips allowed.

Cassanda is the first one out at 11 minutes.
Edgardo slips off at 22 minutes.
Earl is out at 34 minutes.
Mookie out at 41 minutes.
Alex drops out as they move down again at 1 hour.
Dreamz falls at 1:03.
Stacy is in pain, and falls at 1:15.
Boo slips and recovers. Slips again and recovers, which has Yau-man asking incredulously “How many lives does that guy have?”
Boo struggles, and finally falls.

Yau-man wins first tribal immunity with a grin and the comment “I bet I could stay another hour!” I bet ya could too, Yau-man!

Back at camp, the wriggling and strategizing begins in earnest! It plays out something like this:
Mookie is gunning for Cassandra and her alliance, though they decide to vote Earl at first.
Yau-man talks to Stacy, and says if her heart will stand it, vote Alex, but otherwise, vote anyone but Earl.
Then Alex drags off Stacy and says “I saved you, vote Earl” not knowing she’s already promised Yau-man, and asks if she’s in. She waffles, and Alex is instantly suspicious.
Alex pulls over Edgardo to tattle on Stacy, and Edgardo’s like “That means she’s not in.”

So! The Four Floundering Horsemen, hmm and haw and when told by Dreamz that the vote will go to Alex and Mookie makes a sort of sly hand off - in view of Dreamz.
Dreamz then runs off and tells the other’s that it switched hands and Alex will play the idol.
Earl, Yau-man, Cassandra, Stacy and Boo join Dreamz and decide to vote Mookie.
Then, the Floundering Four decide to vote Cassandra instead.
And HELLO! Get me off of this merry go round! Gah!

Just before Tribal council, in a final strategy move, Earl, Yau-man, Cassandra, Stacy and Boo decide to vote for Edgardo out of the blue, and not tell Dreamz. That gives them a for sure hit on the other alliance, with a 5-person majority vote, without risking the votes being nullified due to the playing of the Immunity Idol.
Dreamz gives Alex a little pat on the back, says that he is voting Cassandra and Alex thinks it’s brilliant, and Dreamz manages not to give it all away. Probably because he didn’t know the last chess move!

And finally, it’s time for…

Tribal Council:
Dreamz answers Jeff - making everyone laugh at his description of the mad scramble that’s been going on since the Immunity challenge, and Edgardo agrees that everyone is paranoid, he doesn’t even know who the majority is at this point. Yau-man, proudly sporting his Immunity Necklace, says it’s the first time he’s come with normal heart rate and low blood pressure, which is “good for an old man!”

Yau-man explains that playing the hidden immunity changes the way they strategize, and perhaps it’s the first hint that the Floundering Four have that things are not quite as they seem. Dreamz says it’ll be crazy, it will change the game, that this vote will separate the rats from the snakes, right here.

Jeff tallies the votes, then asks if anyone has the Hidden Immunity Idol and wants to play it. Everyone looks around at everyone else, and after proper dramatic pause, Alex stands up and presents the Idol while Cassandra smiles, Earl and Yau-man grin knowingly.

The Votes:
Cassandra, Cassandra, Cassandra (Mookie and Alex share a smug look).
Mookie (He pouts)
Edgardo! (Edgardo, Mookie and Alex’s faces fall in a stunning display of shock! Earl starts nodding with a smug grin - even the Jury is smirking as Rocky nudges Michelle and Lisi grins.
Edgardo, Edgardo, and the 10th person voted out and the 4th member of the jury: Edgardo!

Edgardo

Feel them shock waves, baby!

This was the best episode yet, I swear. They let us in on a whole bunch of the strategizing and thought processes much more then they have to date, and it was amusing to see it all pay off for my man Earl and Yau-man! Earl’s clearly got a handle on this game, and he is still my pick for number one!

Also: The Idol will be re-hidden, and new clues on Exile Island, so it might come into play again at a later date. Nice!

Next week: Dreamz has some explaining to do, Alex and Mookie discover Yau-man has the other immunity idol by digging through his things and new plan is born.

So: what were you’re thoughts on tonight’s episode? Chime in! Sound off! Mourn the loss of Edgardo’s sexy accent! You know you want to…

Survivor: China and Pirates Ahoy!

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

According to Yahoo News, what’s been speculated about on the Survivor Boards across the ‘net is come true! CBS will be filming the next Survivor in China! (Although, they say it’s the 14th cycle, and hello! 15th! Way to pay attention, guys! Ha!) There’s no confirmation of when it will begin filming, or where exactly in China it will be located. I suspect we’ll get actual confirmation on all of this during the finale on May 13th. (AKA Mother’s Day - so buy yer mom some flowers, huh? And maybe a Survivor Buff, too. And if she doesn’t want the buff, my address is… :) )

Survivor: China would be the first time the series is not on an island since 2003s Amazon Jungle. Other things filmed in China have said it’s very difficult to film because of logistical and government restrictions. Should this all be true (I’m naturally skeptical!) it will definitely be interesting to see it pan out.

In other news - CBS has announced Survivor Producer, Mark Burnett’s Pirate Master will hit CBS Thursdays on May 31st!

Pirate Master

16 modern day pirates will embark on a high seas adventure around Dominica in search of hidden treasure totaling $1,000,000! The grand prize is $500,000 for the last pirate standing (the Pirate Master) and the rest will be weekly booties to be divided up among those that find the treasure, used for barter and trade and buying loyalties. Cameron Daddo is the host, and though he doesn’t have Jeff’s Dimples, he’s certainly easy on the eyes!

(To the guy who announced Survivor was filming in Dominica a couple months ago - looks like you were sorta right, after all! There was filming, there was Mark Burnette - close enough!)

Sounds like Survivor: High Seas to me, and you can bet I’ll take the time to talk about it while Survivor is on hiatus! I will also be featuring a Survivor: Rewind throughout the summer, as I watch the first (and possibly second) season for the first time via recently purchased DVD. So have no fear - we’ll have plenty to talk about over the summer here at Watching Survivor!

Jeff Probst co-hosts on Live with Regis and Kelly!

Jeff Probst

Jeff and his dimples filled in today for Regis with Kelly Tuesday morning. There was, of course, a beginning that was serious as they spoke of the Virginia Tech Massacre, and how it is for them as a show known for fun and light to deal with such a tragedy during the show. It’s a hard balance to strike, and they provide a distraction, which I think is something needed. It does not lesson the tragedy or the horror as we find out more, but it does give a respite. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the families suffering.

As it’s the first time I’ve really seen him outside of Survivor things and You Tube videos, I was kind of surprised at how funny Jeff is! He had no problem filling the big guy’s shoes, and bantered well with Kelly, seeming to be at complete ease.

They spoke of his red-eye flight, and that Jeff - he can tell a story! Celebrity Snoop Dogg sightings, the businessmen suddenly faking hip-ness to try and impress Snoop… it ended up with the best line of the whole show: “Suddenly everybody’s got a lil hip in their hop…”

They also talked a little about Survivor Casting (which they ARE in the middle of for next season!) and how they go into lock down during the interview process. While there, they get an hour in the gym, lunch, but they’re not to talk to each other. People go nuts and keep notes about what they think of those they see. The producers end up with them in a room, while they’ve already gotten all the information about everyone - or as Probst says “more then anyone should know about anyone! We get it ALL!” The potential cast members try to impress them, and be what they want - and he loves the experience of getting into peoples heads that way.

“Survivor’s such a crazy show when it’s on the air, but in its purity, when your meeting these people, it’s such a reminder of the whole country and how cool the country is, and how diverse it is.”

One of the best bits was how he talked about the first time he saw Julie in casting three years ago, and he just knew she was someone special. He’d turned to Mark Burnette and said “That may be the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.” Love at first sight!

It was awesome! Jeff is slated to continue hosting on the 18th and 19th. Check it out!

Michelle on Survivor: Live!

Tuesday, April 17th, 2007

They finally posted the episode - I was beginning to wonder if they’d just not done it, as Michelle has been notably absent from the interview circuit! She’s not been showing up all over like the others have - most notably Rocky and Lisi (Although, there is another one that has popped up now, as well - shock lag time?). But! No worries! It’s posted and I spent the afternoon watching it, and here’s some highlights!

First on the list of course, were the events at Tribal Council. Alex was the only person that had so many questions, and then went right to Dreamz. Michelle mentioned it was the shortest Tribal Council to date. This will add fuel to the fire of those who were upset about Jeff’s supposed manipulation of the vote. Personally, I don’t see it that way, but some die-hard fans are up in arms about it for sure.

One even called (Jamie from Boston) and Michelle’s comments were really spot on. She felt Dreamz, after that, felt that it wasn’t very strategic, but was simply afraid for himself. If he voted for Michelle, it was a guarantee that it wasn’t a vote for him.

And: “As for the game being fair, no game’s fair, you know that going in.”

She was asked if she thought her Making Fire saved her, as the Ravu boys club was still picking off the girls one by one. In her honest way, she said no, because “It’s not a very grateful game… They already had it, they didn’t need it again.”

And! For those wanting to know why there hasn’t been many water challenges, it is because of the water snakes. Can you blame them? EW! Thus, the abundance of puzzle type games so far. Of course, we are into individual immunities now (hopefully), so perhaps they well get some more straight up physical challenges.

Michelle’s Favorite challenge:

Despite falling, she felt it was her best performance - I have to agree, she really shone!

Probst Thoughts:
Wasn’t sure about her because she was quiet and small and young at the beginning, but she showed there was much more to her and was pleasantly surprised.

Awwww…

What surprised her the most in watching the season so far: Felt it was interesting to see everyone was just as paranoid as she was out there.

Minus Ten:
Making Fire: With glasses is hard
Bobcats: No, that’d be bearcats
Curse of Ravu: When you don’t eat, don’t sleep, it’s no wonder you don’t win
Rock Climbing: Awesome, everyone should try it.
Falling: Great Calling, Great Falling
Mario Cart: Favorite N64 game ever
Earl: Great guy love him
When Harry Met Sally: Favorite movie ever!
Fiji: beautiful place
Cincinnati Skyline Chili: Could eat it every day

Regret? Not making a Rocky-esque outburst at the last Tribal Council, and Jeff didn’t let her respond, where he normally does says ‘how do you feel about that.’ She dropped the ball and before she knew it her chance was gone.

Dalton brings up a good possibility about Probst’s actions there - Alex threw him for a loop, perhaps, with the direct way he answered and targeted Michelle. Most would keep their ideas a little under their hat and be a little PC, but he laid it all out, and Michelle missed her chance.

Who was the most annoying to Michelle? Sylvia. Not that she was bad, just kind of rubbed her the wrong way. Surprisingly, she got along really well with Rocky. She is a firm believer in balance, and her quiet, laid back self with his… um… exuberance. Heh. Yin/Yang, I suppose!

Michelle’s favorite moment: Winning the blindfold challenge, and the tremendous moment when Earl scoops her up in his arms - and after that the Fijian feast after winning the Meke Challenge.

Jenna’s Big Fan Question of the Week:
Birdlady: in hindsight, what do you wish you had said at TC?
“Well I’d say at this point of the game, you have to really think about who you can trust. And Dreamz, I remember talking to you and telling you I wouldn’t vote you out, so I think Stacy is someone you wouldn’t be able to trust in this game, so that’s who I am going to vote for.”

Poor girl - she seriously got a raw deal. I was so hoping to see her go all the way. At least she’s a fantastic good sport, and too cute to watch. Give’em hell at the Final Tribal Council, Michelle!
