Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

WSbutton.jpgTwo more days until the premiere of Survivor: Micronesia! I can’t wait, can you? There’s still time to join our Pool Party - and if you’ve been waiting around to see if the prizes were worth it? Well, have I got a deal for you! That’s right, I’ve got the list of prizes for the top three Pool winners all but in my greedy little hands (as in ordered and on the way!) - et voila!

Grand Prize Winner
The participant with the most over all points at the end of the season will receive a prize package that consists of the following items:

1 banner, designed by me, declaring you to be the Sole Pool Party Survivor
1 copy of the Survivor Blast game on DVD
3 Tribal buffs from Survivor: Thailand - 1 gold/yellow, 1 purple, 1 orange

Second Place will receive the following:
1 banner, designed by me, declaring you the Pool Party 2nd place winner
1 Survivor Board Game
2 Tribal Buffs from Survivor: Africa - 1 gold, 1 red

Third Place will receive the following:
1 banner, designed by me, declaring you the Pool Party 3rd place winner
1 Survivor Card Game starter set
1 Tribal Buff from Survivor: Thailand - 1 gold/yellow

See, didn’t I tell you it’d be worth it? Barring any USPS snafus in getting the gear to me, this is what the prize packages will be. There is the possibility of additional items added later too, depending on how many people we get into the pool.

So if you’ve already signed up - yay! Tell your friends and family and co-workers and other Survivor fanatics to sign up too! If you haven’t… what are you waiting for… sign up today!

It’s OFFICIAL!

TwoTimers.jpg

The Faves: Ciree (Panama), Jonathan (Cook Islands), Amanda (China), James (China), Ozzy (Cook Islands), Yau-Man (Fiji), Eliza (Vanuatu), Johnny FP (Pearl Islands), Parvati (Cook Islands), Ami (Vanuatu)

The Spoilers are smiling smugly into their morning (or afternoon, as the case may be) coffee’s today, that’s for sure. With the usual aplomb, they’ve managed to pick out every one of the cast members for Survivor: Micronesia that was officially announced this morning! I’m happy because it means My Man James is back for the faves, as well as Yau-Man and Ozzy, my favorites from their seasons too! Lessa is a very happy girl!

(And when Lessa’s happy - EVERYONE’s happy! (grin))

EW has posted the cast, and Mr. Dimple’s… er… Jeff Probst’s thoughts on the contestants and what kind of odds he gives them for the upcoming season as well. The Faves are at a bit of a disadvantage for sure, as these aren’t naïve first time fans they’re going against. These are folks that have watched the seasons, who know exactly how each of the Fave’s played before, and there will be some definite switching up of strategies for all of the Two-Timers. Of course, they also have the advantage of ‘been there, done that’ and know just how difficult it is - perhaps the two things will cancel each other out.

Oh, and there’s an explanation why there are no Faves from Palau and Guatemala - The two poplar contestants, Stephenie and Bobby Jon already appeared in both those seasons, and Palau’s winner, Tom Westman - the only winner to be invited - declined the invitation.

Rookies.jpg

The Fans: Michael (Writer/Actor), Tracy (Commercial Builder), Joel (Firefighter), Kathleen (Golf Course Vender), Erik (Ice Cream Scooper), Mary (Small Business Owner), Chet (Beauty Pageant Coach), Natalie (Personal Trainer), Jason (Student Teacher), Alexis (Motivational Speaker)

The Rookies have a couple impressive standouts as well - with everything from Fire Fighters to Ice Cream Venders to Golf Course Venders in their ranks. There’s even Chet the Beauty Pageant Coach. How could that guy NOT be worth some comedy gold?!

I can’t WAIT for this season to get started! February 7th seems so far away, yet it gives us a full month to debate the pros and cons of the new contestants. I’ll be posting the blurbs as told by Jeff over the next few days, as well as my completely arbitrary and unsubstantiated opinions of what may or may not happen based on first looks at the Rookies. If you look close, you might even catch a spoiler or two that I’ve found. Or maybe not. Who knows? I might just continue to pull posts out of thin air until it all starts up official like.

Only way to know, is to head back here for another look, huh? See ya soon!

Lend a helping hand!

Chillin out with Frosti…

Monday, November 19th, 2007

frosti_72.jpgWe all know by now, that Frosti was the youngest Survivor in the history of the series, and as a serious threat with his athletic ability that I, for one, wish he had gotten to show off more. What we also learned over the past weeks, was that he’s also a genuinely nice kid, someone a mom like me can point too and appreciate for being a stand up kinda guy, like you’d want your daughter to crush on a little. Through his last words on the show, in the extra transcripts, and his interviews along the circuit – there’s no doubt about it. Frosti is a hell of a nice kid. His mama should be proud, despite what he says about himself:

Honestly, back in Chicago I’m a pretty cynical guy. I’m pretty negative and I look at a lot of the downside of things.

He continues on to explain how he’s had to put that aside, and really learn to focus on the positives in order to play the game the way he wanted too – with integrity.

Since I’ve been out here I’ve really forced myself to look at the positive, try and find a good balance in things. Really working that whole mind over matter, things are as good as you can take it, do your best. I really took to it. Hopefully that stays with me once I head back home.”

[cut]

I really had to do all the things I said I would do, and one of my biggest struggles in life is to finish the goals I set for myself. The journeys I start. I think it’s summed up best in the Confucius quote from the puzzle we did. The journey of a thousand miles begins a single step. Coming out here was the first step on that journey. I feel like I haven’t completed it yet, but I’ve gotten a lot farther than I thought I could. It’s a great beginning for me. I don’t want this to be the end for me. I want to have even more of this journey. I think this has been a really big step for me, and it’s helped me on my own path in life.”

And if your still not convinced, you can check out his interviews here, here, here, here and here.

Reminder! This Thursday is a recap of the first half of the season show, which means we have to wait another week to find out what that ‘other business’ is at Tribal Council, which is all kinds of wrong. That means I won’t be doing a full recap, unless something exciting happens on the show that we haven’t seen yet. So – from me and mine to you and yours – Happy Thanksgiving (To those who celebrate turkey days, happy Thursday to those who don’t) and I’ll catcha on the flip side!

Survivor: China updates!

Friday, July 20th, 2007

In case you haven’t heard, CBS recently announced the Series Premiere date for Survivor: China!

CBS’s […] SURVIVOR: CHINA, Thursday, Sept. 20 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT).

Currently the Survivor: China series is being filmed in the Zhelin Lake reservoir area of Jiangxi province in the People’s Republic of China. Filming is speculated to wrap on or around August 2nd.

And that’s not all - Mark Burnett dropped us a tidbit or two about the upcoming season as well!

Burnett was at the semi-annual networks’ press tour on Thursday to promote “Survivor: China,” the 15th edition of his still potent reality show. Instead of the usual tropical island setting, the latest round takes place in an ancient setting in mainland China, a first for an American-produced series.

Sixteen participants are currently filming the series. They face a few new twists.
“We got rid of exile island,” said Burnett. “We still have a hidden immunity idol but it is right under their noses.”

Burnett says this latest round reminded him the most of the very first Survivor. He continues to be amazed that “people still can’t make fire” and that, instead of staying safely under the radar, people are still trying to assume a leadership role “five minutes into the game - the exact opposite of what you are supposed to do.”

Not only THAT, but Survivor Fever let’s us in on some costumes that have been ordered for the season, and the background of them all. I have a feeling we are in for quite a treat this fall!

Survivor Swag for a good cause!

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

It’s been seen time and time again that once the game is over, once the lying, backstabbing, conniving, strategy, winning is over - Reality TV stars stick together - even if they’re from different shows. Now is no different.

rabekah.jpgBig Brother star - Howie Gordon and his girlfriend Sonia recently received the devastating news that their 4-year-old goddaughter, Rabekah, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. Here’s a bit of what they have to say about her:

This past week Howie and I received devastating news. My God-daughter Rabekah (”Bekah”) was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor. The specific type of tumor is a Pontine Brain Stem Glioma. They were told it is inoperable.

Rabekah’s parents, Shannon and Glenn, are now in search of the best treatment option. This has become very expensive as they are no longer working and a lot of travel is involved. Thus we have set up an account entitled the “Rabekah Fund” to help cover Rabekah’s medical treatment and expenses.

Rabekah is a beautiful 4-year old little girl. She was born April 16th, 2003. Aunt Sonia was so very lucky to be right in the birthing room as Rabekah was welcomed into this world. She has one older sister, a younger sister and mommy has a baby on the way. Rabekah can’t wait to be a big sister for the second time!

Rabekah has a light about her that emanates for everyone to see, and a wonderful imagination. She likes dressing up like a Disney princess, wearing crowns and jewelry. She loves to sing and dance. Every time Aunt Sonia comes over, the first thing Rabekah does is turn on her music and show off her new dance routine. Bekah’s favorite color is purple and she loves, loves, loves kittens! She especially adores Hello Kitty and the Barbie princess Serafina Kitty.

When Howie first met her last year, he and Rabekah hit if off. They played all night and watched the movie “Free Willy.” They sat on the floor and watched the entire movie from start to finish singing and laughing all the way through. Then the following week after Howie had long since returned to his home in California, Rabekah was helping set the dinner table and set one extra spot. When Rabekah’s mom asked who the spot was for, Rabekah exclaimed, “It’s for Howie!!” Shannon called me right away to tell me that story which I find so sweet. Then a few months later Rabekah found out it was Howie’s birthday and she took her own personal movie of Free Willy from her collection and gave it to Howie for his present!!

Many Reality Stars are banding together to help raise money for Rabeka and her parents to help offset the medical costs of the treatment.

MookieLeeHoldingSurivivorItems_2_1.jpgWhere does Survivor come in? Mookie of Survivor: Fiji has generously donated an autographed shirt and hat to be auctioned off at Bids for Rabekah. The shirt is the only one that was signed by Mr. Dimples himself, Jeff Probst, as well as many other cast members. It’s a one of a kind item, and for a fantastic cause to boot.

There are many, many other very cool items as well (A 10 minute phonecalls from Big Brother’s James? HELLO!) So what are you waiting for? Go to Bids for Rabekah right now and help raise treatment funds for an adorable little girl!

Insider Information!

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

Lynn, over at the Other Blog Network, has a Survivor insider! And her insider has given her one HELL of an exclusive scoop for the upcoming seasons, Survivor 15 and 16. I’ve already seen it picked up by others, and I jotted her an email to see if I could get anything additional for us here. Well, no go, but while I was waiting I went to my own contacts and tried to pry a little. This is what I got:

“Not allowed to make comments on it one way or the other. Sorry.”

They aren’t talking.

You know what that means? Lynn’s scoop is The Real Deal™ because normally they’d give me SOMETHING. (Well, other then to give the possible relationship of the possible quoted insider to the show!) So, since my birdies aren’t singing? I’m inclined to believe the following:

“There will actually be two seasons of Survivor filmed in the location in China. They have booked the location for six full months and will film two seasons back-to-back!!”

“The first of the two will be a regular season of Survivor. Then, the second of the two will be an All-Stars season.”

Another reason to believe this is that it is the same thing that happened with the last All Star Season - they filmed back to back at Pearl Islands so this makes sense. If that part makes sense, then most certainly the other parts do as well.

“Apparently, they are having a tougher time getting the women to agree to do it again. Most of the ones they have approached so far have declined to be on the All-Stars.

They decided not to bring back any previous winners this time. They are trying to get at least one man and one woman from each of the seasons since Palau. And once the production is complete on the first China season, they will ask a man and a woman from that season to join the All-Stars.

They plan to have the All-Star season divided into two tribes: Before Jury and After Jury.”

Some folks that are said to be on the cast list:
Dreamz (Needs to have cash for that paternity suit. heh.)
Cao Boi (equally cool!)
Bruce Kanegai (had to leave due to sickness - nice if he got a second try)
Billy Garcia (WHOO!)
Ozzy Lusth (YAY!)
James Miller
Stephanie Lagrossa (Uh, 3rd times a charm?)
Cristina Coria
And they thought about Julie Berry - but as she and Jeff Probst are seriously dating… I think that’d be a serious conflict of interest.

So there you go. This is the current scuttlebutt, and if I get any other solid confirmation, I will be sure to point it out for you all! I do think that Papa Smurf should be given a second chance too, since he was also evacuated due to illness. I also would hope that if Dreamz is on, they boot his ass off right away. Heh.

Thanks Lynn, for the info! And thanks to your insider contact too!

Upcoming Survivor Events in July!

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

Hello Survivor Fans! Here’s hoping everyone is recovered nicely from the Reality TV Convention (And if you are - and would like to do a guest post or email telling me how it went, be sure to use that Contact button over on the right hand side under the ‘about site’ section, hm? We’ll work something out!) this past weekend - I’m only a LEETLE bit jealous. Ok, A lot. But still! I hope you all had a fantastic time!

Because it’s time to look forward to the next big events! Thanks to a reader, I was tipped off to the big benefit coming next weekend in Louisville, KY - The 4th Annual Kentuckiana Police and Firefighter’s Children’s Summer Bash Benefit.

Kentuckiana.jpg

They will be hosting over 500 police officers, firefighters, public safety personnel, military personnel and citizens for a “Night of fun and live entertainment.” The event is for charity and will be open to the public.

The benefit kicks off at 8:00 PM and goes until Midnight. We have a photographer available for all of our guests to have digital photos taken with our celebrities and the celebrities sign them during the event. This makes our event very unique in the community. Each year, the organizers seek to hold an event that is both professional and pleasing to the general public. The environment is very laid back and people friendly. Dress for the evening is business attire.

We will also be doing a moonlight VIP cruise on Friday night, July 6th, with some of the celebrity guests who will be in town. Please refer to the link for information about the cruise. Tickets are $50.00 and will be limited to 100.

Attending Survivors include Yau Man Chan, Rupert Boneham, Cao Boi, Bobby Jon, Twila Tanner, Big Tom Buchanan and many more!

Check it out - and Rocky, thanks for the tip - if you get to attend, feel free to send pictures and a write up about the experience!

BuckyKacey.jpgSpeaking of Big Tom Buchanan - Watching Survivor would like to congratulate his son, Bucky Bo, who spent the weekend getting hitched to the lovely Kacey Foley! A birdy told us that Lex van den Berghe flew out for the occasion to officiate the wedding!

Congrats to both the Buchanan and Foley families - may Bo and Kacey have many years of happiness ahead of them!

Updated Rumormill!

Sunday, June 24th, 2007

Billy Garcia (Survivor: Cook Islands) stopped by and left us a comment to point out an update on the WWE Diva Ashley Massaro’s rumored appearance on Survivor: China!

From www.pwheadlines.com
Reported By Daniel Pena on Jun 21, 2007 - 4:49:14 PM
Here are some details regarding Ashley Massaro doing Survivor, not to mention when you can expect to see her return to WWE.

Massaro left for the show last weekend and will be taping for 40 days in China. Even when she’s eliminated, she has to remain in a undisclosed location. Apparently, Survivor officials do not want Massaro to return to WWE television until the Survivor season has concluded when it runs this fall/winter. Don’t expect Massaro back until at least January of 2008.

Massaro was also telling people that she was going to be doing a WWE Film to cover up London’s error of leaking the Survivor info. She’s really not doing a film - it was just to cover London’s hide from the wrath of WWE management.

Thanks for stopping by, Billy!

As for the other rumors about ASS2 (hahahah! That cracks me up every time I see it! That’d be All-Star Survivor 2) for Season 16 - I did a little digging where I could, to find out what may or may not be out there. Seems some Past Survivors have been chatting it up at certain events, saying they were getting ready for it, but no names and no one will admit to saying anything. Naturally. So I dug a little further, and contacted some folks I know, and more folks that I don’t know, and tried to get to the bottom of the rumors.

Well. Here’s the only thing that’s for sure - Nothing is for certain. According to some birdies I know, Jeff Probst is determined that it not be another straight up All Star cast, and the most popular idea on the table, among many, is a Second Chance vs. All Star lineup that includes no winners, and only contestants from Seasons 9-15.

Thanks for chirping in our direction, little birdies! Sing on, sing on, sing on!

Rumor has it…

Thursday, June 14th, 2007

Ashley Marie MassaroIt seems that some of the wrestling forums are on fire, with the announcement from a fan who is said to have revealed the first contestant for Survivor: China!

from a fan via SurvivorChina.net:

A few weeks ago, I ran into Paul London in the airport and we were chatting it up about the biz. He was telling me about the moves that Vince had banned him from doing, cruiserweight division, etc. He seemed like a cool guy. Turns out he lives in Austin and we fly in/out of the same airport. I ran into him a couple days ago and was complimenting him on his three way tag match last week.

We chatted again for a while, and I was talking about him and Kendrick being a great team. When I asked if he liked working with Ashley, he said they wrote her out of the storylines because she’s leaving to do Survivor. Yeah, the Survivor reality show! How do you think she’ll do on there? She’s already so skinny, I can’t see her barely eating any less. Has there ever been a contracted WWE talent on a reality show? It’s the first one I can think of. Anyways, thought I’d share this news. Hopefully I’ll run into Paul again, he’s a really nice guy..

Again - that’s just rumor and hearsay, but if true, we just might have the first slipup spoiler for Survivor: China!

PS: Like the new page header? The PTB (powers that be) of 451 Press allowed us to create our own! Fans of WS.Com know I love making my little banners, having the ability to make a full sized one filled my little heart with glee! Thanks guys!
