Pirate Master Recap! Episode 9!

Here we go! We rejoin our Pirates after the last Pirates Court where Jupiter was set adrift. Everyone is toasting Jupiter, and Azmyth looks quite a bit lost without her. He says his soul aches a little and he regrets his decision a little bit.

Nessa approaches Jay to see what he would feel about a mutiny, and Jay says that he’d be down for that because Azmyth is such a strong threat to them all. Jay feels Captain Azmyth is right where they want him - isolated and down in the dumps.

The Pirates are working hard, and Azmyth decides to make breakfast for the crew, since they are fresh out of cooks without Jupiter. The Triad are feeling pretty confident that they’ll win the next challenge, and feel secure as they eat breakfast.

All Pirates to the Quarter Deck!
The key opens the map to the Cook’s treasure. The Cook, Samuel James, was the life of a party, and Cameron Daddo says “Since you’re the final eight, I reckon that’s a damn good reason to party!” They gather their things, and follow Daddo’s directions to shore, to an old fort “Where the real pirates used to play” according to Louie.

Before they get to the party, we have A TWIST. Azmyth is still Captain, but Jay and Ben are no longer officers. They’re demoted to crew with the rest, and Azmyth holds the reign alone. Bye, bye Triad! Thus disbanded, the pirates get to eat AND DRINK, like pirates. ARRRGH!

Nessa and Jay had a moment together to share a drink and point out Azmyth’s lack of support, then it was all you can eat seafood, all you can drink beer in a celebration of making it half way. Everyone seems to have a great time, though some ate themselves into a stomachache, it was well worth it.

The next morning, Cameron Daddo shows back up again, looking spiffy as usual, and divides the crew up into Black and Red crews to begin the search for the Treasure that begins right there in the fort.

Black Crew: Azmyth, Louie, Nessa, Laurel
Red Crew: Krista, Ben, Jay, Kendra

They are given the next clue, which is on a key ring of many keys, and the pistol is shot - Nessa jumps, and the hunt begins! They are looking for the Stockade, where they will look through the key rings, pointed to the cannon by the outer wall, where they will solve a keyring puzzle to get the leg irons they’ll need for the next bit.

Black Crew finds it first, and Louie works the puzzle. Jay and the Red Crew are hot on his heels and because, as he says “I’m mentally stronger the Louie, its just a fact.” he gets the shackles first, and they are off to the ruined staircase. They have to count the steps, solve a math question, and find the key under the step mentioned.

Red crew is counting and climbing, and Louie is still working on it because he’s behind and flustered. He says it’s tricky, and they urge him to just grab the shackles and lets go! He would, if he could work the key puzzle!

the Red crew is climbing and counting - subtract 1 and divide 22, and Krista works the math like no one’s business, taking an average and discovering their key is under the third step. Louie finally gets the shackles off, and they’re racing for the staircase. They find the key and race to the top, where Jay puts the shackles on, and uses them to measure 300 paces, where there is a clearing that contains the buried treasure. Jay is having problems - shackles hurt! He says he doesn’t ever want to do that again.

Black crew is hot on their heels, finding their key and putting the shackles on Louie who “walks like Fankenstien monster!” The Red Crew arrives first, but there’s no other clue, they just have to start digging. Kendra is looking around, and they urge her to dig, ANYWHERE, knowing they want it - they want Azmyth out of power. Jay is urging them faster, faster, as the Black Crew joins the hunt and he finds the treasure under a rock and pulls it free! Red Crew Wins!

Louie doesn’t like losing, but he’s glad to see Azmyth is out of the blue coat, but he feels he’s done an amazing job as captain, and feels everyone knows that and he has a good shot of staying.

Back on the Picton Castle, Azmyth gives up his hat and blue coat, and they count the treasure which comes up to $50k and we have our FIRST FEMALE CAPTAIN as the Red Crew elects Christa! She doesn’t want it, but takes it as offered, and we get ANOTHER TWIST! She alone will choose the black spot, and mark two pirates. Also, this is the last night the Royal Pardon can be used. Then the biggest twist of all - captain of the winning crew gets THE ENTIRE Treasure. $50k for Krista, and Jay is thinking hey, maybe he should have been captain! Haha!

The pirates are a little down, and worried, as they are unsure what’s going down. If she keeps all the treasure, they’re certain that there will be mutiny. They have to decide if they’re looking toward end game, or coin. Christa is pretty stressed, as the $50k would mean a big difference for her in her life with her daughter. It’d be 12,500 each if she splits it equally. Kendra thinks Christa is fair, and as Christa goes downstairs, she is called Sweetbeard. Then…

Jay gets an IDEA. A SNEAKY one. He joins her in the captains quarters with Ben, and he gives her his devious, evil plan to come out ahead with more loot, and look like she did things the fair way… (Until she gets CAUGHT of course…) The plan is to tell Kendra, the holder of the pardon, that she gets 2,500 now, and Kendra would bid 10k for the pardon - then they don’t bid on the pardon at all. They blackspot Kendra, she doesn’t get paid her other 10k for the pardon, and they cut her adrift.

Sneaky, Jay. Really sneaky!

Kendra actually goes for this plan as presented by Christa, and Christa knows she can hang on and make the decision later. Louie bid a whole dollar down on the pardon just for fun, and Kendra is pretty sure no one else has bid. In the Captain’s quarters, Christa has to make the decision as to who to give the black spots too. She does things the diplomatic way, and asks each of the crew to give her two names for nomination. Every crew member said Kendra, and/or Azmyth. As such, the Captain follows their wishes, and blackspots them both.

Azmyth says he’s not worried, because he has Jay and Ben at his back, and he feels pretty safe. He didn’t bid on the pardon, he thinks it’s a cheap way to buy freedom. Kendra has gotten 4 black spots in a row, and thus has the most of any other crew member. She’s worried about Pirates Court because she’s running out of defenses! Jay says it doesn’t make a difference who goes, he’ll be happy. He and Nessa are pretty smug and content. Azmyth is the obvious choice, of course. Now comes the biggest decision for the crew - do they vote for weakness (Kendra) or strength (Azmyth)?

And here is where the online episode stops loading EVERY TIME. So I had to resort to the official recap to see who was set adrift.

– Christa decided that she would be true to her word to Kendra, and indeed bid the 10k on the Pardon in order to give her all of her share of the Treasure. I’m not really surprised, as Christa seems to be a fair and upstanding kind of gal. And with that, the Royal Pardon expires.

– Kendra writes and reads a poem for her 4th time with the black spot, and Azmyth reiterates that he’s a strong player. Jay says it’s a vote for the weak or the strong, simple as that.

– In the end, they take what may be their only chance to get rid of the strongest player, and captain Azmyth is set adrift by unanimous vote.

He said as he floated away:

“It’ll be interesting to see who the actual Pirate Master is. If it’s not me, I don’t know who it’s gonna be.”

“It was a little surprising, the unanimous fact of the vote against me,” Azmyth notes as he floats out to sea. “I thought that Jay and Ben, at least out of all of them, might have had my back. You know, the cards fell as they did and even though I helped them out in so many ways, with me on board, they weren’t safe, I guess.”

And there you have it. Hopefully next weeks episode will WORK as promised!

Azmyth was just to over confident in himself. Got to keep in mind that this is a game for money. Rule #1 get rid of your biggest competition.
