Rocky’s rockin the interview circuit!
Everyone wants a piece of rocky, it seems, and he’s plenty happy to bare it all and tell it as he sees it. We’re totally not surprised, right? Right. Buddy TV and IGN both have posted their recent interviews with the outspoken sorta - Stallone - look-a-like.
Some highlights:
IGN TV: Had you seen a lot of Survivor before?
Rocky: Not really. They made me watch a couple of seasons while I was waiting in the hotel to meet with Mark Burnett.
IGN TV: Were you surprised about the diversity of the casting?
Rocky: Not really. I always think there’s a lot of diversity, is there not? Isn’t there usually a plethora of ethnicity on the show.
IGN TV: No, they’ve only been doing that for two seasons now.
Rocky: Oh really? I kind of dig it. I kind of dig that they have groups of nationalities on there. I think it’s cool.
IGN TV: Was there a romantic connection between you and Jessica?
Rocky: Yeah. I kind of had a crush on her when we first started the whole thing. I wanted her to do well and I wanted her to stay with me. I didn’t want anything to happen to her. I told her and Erica, ‘you know what, for as long as I can, I’ll keep you on the show.’ And the reason why I had no problem voting Erica off, I kind of like led the campaign with Erica, is because she didn’t do anything to help save Jessica. She told me Jessica was going and I was like ‘no, that’s not going to happen’ and she was like ‘you got to calm down.’ I’m like ‘no!’ She didn’t really do anything to save her. She not only yelled at me but branded me for life for getting as upset as I did. I thought I was being a real friend to her, plus I had a huge crush on Jessica at the time. (laughs) That didn’t really help.
IGN TV: Do you think people were afraid you and Jessica could turn into a Rob and Amber?
Rocky: Yeah. Exactly. That’s what Mookie did. Mookie planted a seed. He saw the alliance between me and Jessica and Erica. Mookie planted the seed saying she messed up the challenge today. Which was the first challenge, how bad could she really have done? Instead of Anthony, who was horrible at everything, or Rita, she was alright, but she wasn’t anywhere near as strong as Jessica. Jessica was a brickhouse, she was just so strong. And Erica. Basically, they got rid of Jessica and Erica for stupid reasons, that was half our strength right there. Those girls on the other tribe, Stacey and Lisi, they were nowhere near as strong as Erica and Jessica. Jessica and Erica were jacked. Liliana was the only one that could hold a candle to either one. She was stronger than me at one point, I’ll tell you that much
IGN TV: So is the rumor that you and Liliana were flirting true?
Rocky: Yeah, we were flirting in the beginning. People were like ‘what’s up with you and Liliana?’ I was like ‘you know, she’s a smart girl, but she knows what she’s doing out there and she’s kind of cute.’ And they were like ‘are you guys doing it?’ And I’m like ‘I’m on a deserted island, I haven’t shaved and I probably smell horrible right now, but we’ll see. We’ll see what happens.’ (laugh)
Color me impressed with his use of one of my favorite words: plethora!
Also, did I miss the flirtation parts? It must have gotten lost in the middle of all his outbursts, though Jessica was barely there long enough for anyone to notice anything. Too bad he didn’t take a page from Billy Garcia and announce it for all of us to see! Oh well, maybe next time.
I am, however, eternally amused with Rocky’s elevated impression of himself and how he comes across. At least he admits that the way he was edited and portrayed on the show was “Spot on. Spot on. They could have probably showed a lot more, but spot on. They probably saved me a little bit.”
You can see the rest of the interview here. Meanwhile, Rocky is out there “slinging cocktails in L.A. Riding the wave, see what happens, see if anything comes out of this.”
Sounds good to me, ‘bro’, sounds good to me.

[...] My daughter, Lessa, writes the Watching Survivor blog for 451 Press. (in fact, she is the one who encouraged me to submit a resume for this blog!) One night as she was helping me with various computer/blogging/technical/451 Press-type questions, she made a comment that sent me off searching . . . [...]

I love how he talks about spearheading the ejection of Erica and then says this:
“they got rid of Jessica and Erica for stupid reasons”
It’s like he is able to instantly remove himself from any fault in that dumb decision.
Priceless.
