Survivor: Fiji! Ep. 6 recap!
Well. I don’t know about you, but after all the hype, I was rather disappointed with the level of drama. Especially Lisi’s freakout. While pleased that I was right in tagging Lisi for her little fit, I would definitely not consider that a freak-out! I mean, I’m Irish, and we declare our undying love with much more demonstration then that! Maybe it’s just her Latina diabolical nature… Ha!
I don’t know. It was just so laid back. WHERE is the DRAMA folks? None-the-less, here’s the recap of the episode.
We start in the ill-fated Ravu tribe, looking worn out and this time, fly-covered! They’re complaining about the flies and wondering why they are so bad. (Hm, maybe if ya’ll washed up a bit? Oh yeah! No luxury soap!) Mookie hits a fly off Rocky’s back, and Rocky in true form, threatens to strangle Mookie. Awesome.
Yau-man is relieved to have dodged a bullet, and then there is tree mail! It promises exile, brain-teasers and food! There’s no wasting of time to get the tribes together and go for the big switch up. Edgardo and Earl volunteer and then are told they’re going to pick the new tribes. Each person picked picks the next, and so on and must choose members from opposite tribe. My predictions proved true! New tribes are:
Edgardo - Mookie - Alex - Rocky - Dreamz - Anthony
Earl - Boo - Michele - Cassandra - Yau-man - Stacy
Lisi is told she’s still in the game, and thought she was out instead of exiled. Said she wouldn’t mind saying “Great guys, do your business.” Then when told she was going to exhile, and missing tribal council and join with whoever loses a member at TC, she was all “Great. Yeah. thanks. That’s just great.” Jeff tells her maybe Exile Island will clear her head. Heh.
I expected a REAL freak-out. That was… lame.
Rock Paper Sissors has Edgardo chosing which beach they are to go to. And he pulls Orange, which sends them to Ravu beach. Rocky looks like he might cry for a moment, while Yau-man, Earl and Michelle are understandably ecstatic! Both tribes are surprised and excited to find a feast of bread, crackers and cheese waiting for them with champagne. Ravu also gets fishing gear, at long last! Perhaps things will turn around for them, now that they are fed.
Lisi reads clue number 6? And says “yeah, whatever.” What is this chick’s problem? Seriously? She then admits to having a fit, since her comfort zone was yanked out from under her. She wishes she had stopped and let things soak, but admits she’s abrasive. Well, admitting it is the first step.
Stacy tells Earl not to get in the bed early, and he does anyway with a big grin, and calls for Garcon! and his breakfast. It was seriously cute. This is the first episode we’ve really seen some real personality from him. I just might learn to like him. He’s definitely in my top 4 at this point.
Ravu, being now an all male tribe, what’s the first thing they do? Go macho and decide they’re going to kick some ass. Second thing? Girl-bashing. Alex feels like they’re all warriors, and gung-ho and happy there are no girls. Mookie admits they were purposely voting off women.
Rocky, Rocky, Rocky. You know, Ex-Survivor Billy would be SO DISAPPOINTED to hear you dissing the distractions of females. What better reason to be stuck on an Island, right Billy?
Anthony says he knows he’s a nerd stuck on the burly man team, and “I am so screwed right now… Uh. wow.”
Boo was countin’ his million! His plan was tight! but, he’ll wait and see. Earl’s already working on those important swing votes, planning on having his friends close, and enemies closer. Cassandra is certainly feeling the love, and is setting herself up to be the swing vote, changing everything. She has no doubts at all she’s got more control then she’s ever had before. Earl encourages it, of course, because that puts him in even firmer position of power.
This week is turning out to be a lot focused on individual personalities. It’s nice to see a little bit more of each person on the Tribes. Rocky wastes no time talking down on Anthony, and soon Alex, Ed, Mooky and Dreamz they’ve made plans to vote out Anthony even before the Immunity challenge. They don’t pull in Rocky, as he’s too volatile. This doesn’t bode well for Rocky next week, does it? But, at least while they are planning Anthony’s demise, they catch a bunch of fish and have, at last, the ability to feast! Rocky declares the bad times oooooooovah! and they’re “On paper, a super powah!”
Immunity Challenge: A bamboo maze, they must work as a team to get through as they are locked together in a hub. It looked simple enough, until people started getting locked up at the cross overs. Poor little Michelle got jammed into the center of the opposite tribes hub quite a few times! It got pretty physical between the teams a couple of times0 (Jeff: A strange game of Twister going on in the Maze!), and they were neck and neck through the whole maze.
But in the end, it’s not enough, and as a tribe, Moto is still undefeated. Ravu, once again, goes to Tribal council. So much for Rocky’s “Supah powah!”
And, there’s the Title Quote: Yau-man “I got strength now to carry the flag!”
Anthony is left behind to tend the fires, before doing some damage control and actually making a play to make it Rocky instead of him. Not a one of those boys will look him in the face and tell him that they’ve already made the decision. Anthony makes a good play, but it is entirely too little too late.
OMG. How did I not notice before that Edgardo has such a sexy accent? mrrRROOOOWwww…
And man. Rocky has the nerve to talk down about Anthony’s social skills because he’s “Like a girl”? I swear, if Rocky ever gets a date after this show, I will be seriously surprised.
Tribal Council: Rocky cannot leave well enough alone and attacks Anthony again. Tells him he’s weak, and can’t stand up for himself, has no social skills and gives him “a life lesson, bro!” and to stand up. And doesn’t let him get a word in edgewise. As he’s talking over Anthony, he then has the nerve to tell Anthony not to raise his voice in Rocky’s ear! Ugh. Anthony may come across as being weak, and not having a backbone, but really? I’d have voted against Rocky for that little display of disgusting macho-ism. Ugh.
The other guys feel empathy for Anthony, especially after his claim to want to be in the game - but in the end, it doesn’t matter, and Anthony is the 6th person voted out of Survivor: Fiji. His last words: “I’m not what was wrong with that tribe. What’s wrong is Mookie and James (rocky). That tribe will continue to lose until they’re gone.”
It ought to be interesting when Lisi joins the Tribe next week! How will the abrasive fit-thrower fit in on the tribe of Male Dominated Have-nots? It certainly should be interesting, hm?

boo cracked me up. He has been disposable since day one, so his counting his millions commnet was hilarious. I was worried when Earl was getting cocky about the change in fortunes, that ussually comes before a fall. I like the new Moto and I like that Cassandra has been brought into a better power position. It only highlights Stacy and Lisi’s error and poor handling of the social aspect of the game.
I was sooo hoping Rocky would get it. For all his talk he has been just as responsible for Ravu’s failure than any other member. I could have sympathy for Mookie, who is a strong player, if he hadn’t aligned himself so thoroughly with Rocky. I like Ed and Alex, but if they don’t set up a strong alliance against those two they will sink them.
