Survivor: Fiji! Episode 4 Recap
We start the night right off with a tribal powwow - Ravu gets back to camp after Tribal Council and Earl asks for everyone to get everything off their chest. Rocky is all kinds of upset about Anthony not being manly enough! Poor Anthony, with his low self esteem. But - with tears in his eyes, he assures us (and us alone!) that if they want him off, they’re gonna have to push him off, because he’s not giving up! Maybe he could have moistened that pig snout with some tears and done better in the last challenge. No? Well then.
On Moto: Boo, Alex, Stacy, Lisi and Ed have a bond, and there’s a little bit of snobbery as the girls speak of how awesome they are living in the lap of luxury. The alliance seems strong. We’ll see how long it lasts. Meanwhile, Gary was still light headed, and woozy and unable to function. Cassandra and Lisi speak to him - Cassandra is worried about him, Lisi is worried about having to baby sit him. Nice, Lisi.
Challenge time! It’s the side by side on the balance beam challenge, where they have to step around each other and get to the finish platform to win reward. Playing for fish, rice, spices to liven up the meals, and comfort - pillows and blankets, and also, at camp, a king sized bed with sheets and pillows. Gary and Cassandra sit it out for Moto.
- Moto: Stacy and Lisi go into the water, once. twice.
- Ravu: Michelle works her way around each of her tribemates and makes it through with no problem. Things are looking FAB for Ravu. Which, of course, means they are so gonna muck it up.
- Moto: Lisi and Alex go in. Lisi goes back to the start AGAIN. They change strategy and use the ‘leap frog’ kind of method. It kinda works.
- Ravu: Yau Man makes it across with no problem at all. Oh yeah, they’re gonna drop the ball any time now…
- Moto: Lisi touches TWO people, and has to jump off again. Maybe she should have been nicer to Papa Smurf? Fate is fickle… but no, she FINALLY makes it across for Moto, while Rita and Anthony get knocked off and has to start over on Ravu. It’s the beginning of the end.
- Moto ties it, two/two, Mooky and Anthony both into the water.
- Ravu drops everyone in to change the order. Anthony falls before they even restart.
- Moto gets 3. Mookey has to drop in again, touching two - while Moto flows into their strategy of leapfrog-esque style and flies across the beam for the rest, winning 6-3.
Yau Man goes to Exile Island and gets the fourth clue for the immunity idol. He’s pretty sure he knows where it is, and figures he needs it badly, and hopes he can dig fast enough to find it.
Back on Moto, the celebration begins. Dreamz “We just livin lovely, right now!” The meal was declared Moto-licious!
Ravu: yup, here’s the blow up! Rocky starts throwing rocks and wood “Might as well go to Tribal right now, call up Jeff on the Jeff phone, and vote some one off right now!” He also complains about being 40 pounds lighter then homeless people! Everyone is like “We lost, let’s move on.” But Rocky just isn’t buying it. Earl tries to calm him down. Maybe I was wrong about him - time will tell.
Night Nine: Moto and Lilianna is making her move against the guys, with massages and flirtations. Lisi isn’t amused, not one little bit.
Moto: Day 10. Papa Smurf is getting worse by the day. They call the med team in (Oh lordy he’s got an Aussie accent! RAAAAAWR! I need that medic, STAT!) They end up calling the medical boat, and evacuate him from the camp. Lisi says she’s not worried about it, because one less person is fine with her. Man - that’s cold, darlin. Just cold. Alex is frustrated too, but seems more concerned about Gary, even as he continues that he hopes they don’t lose, because they’d end up tied with Ravu 7-7, and he feels they’d be screwed.
The twist has got to be coming, right? (Should I admit that I already know what it is, because I found spoilers? Should I? Nah…. back to live (well, VCR recorded live. I’m so old school.) blog reporting!)
Day 11 at Ravu, Rocky’s “Goin crazy, ya’ll!” but he says he’s going to lead by example by which, he apparently meant STREAKING! Oh my. Rita says it wasn’t pretty. And then he puts on one of the girls pink tops, just to make everyone laugh. Maybe it’ll boost morale. It does, at least, boost coconut shells.
Immunity Challenge! Jeff asks Rocky, “do you think that’s a good color for you?” then says Ravu has a great attitude for not having won anything, and insists it was a compliment. He updates both tribes on Gary, who’s officially out of the game.
So, tribe members are locked in floating cages. Unlock the first, who then races across the lily pads to free another who does the same for the 4th. Number 4 gets into a boat, picks up everyone on the way back where they make a human pyramid on the beach, top member standing to unlock the last tribe member. First team with all members back on the mat wins.
The twist! Sealed message in a bottle, will be revealed to the winner.
Moto with the early lead and they don’t look back, zipping past and getting into the boat and hauling butt back to the beach. Rita loses Ravu a LOT of time on the lily pads, Mookey makes up a lot of time, and Ravu hops into the boat and does their best to get to the beach quickly and get back in it. It comes down to Michelle and Stacy trying to find the right keys first. Michelle gets there first, and Moto remains undefeated and wins immunity.
The message in the bottle: a choice. Immunity or comfort. Moto must decide if it is more important to stick together as a tribe eight strong, and lose their cooshy lifestyle at their beach, or if they will vote someone off in order to remain strong. After a quick vote (way quick, in my opinion!) they decide to lose a tribe member in order to remain at Moto’s beach palace. Rocky’s choice of drag may not have given them enough motivation to win immunity on their own, but Moto’s greediness did it for them.
Back at camp Moto, Dreamz sits everyone down, and they talk about who they can afford to lose, says he ain’t pointing fingers, then points anyway, at Lisi and Cassandra. He keeps pushing everyone to make a decision as a group, at tribe of eight, and not become snakes just yet.
Speaking of - Snake watch: 1 in the recap, and then nothing until now with 1 more. Oh, CBS, you were doing SO WELL! But there that slimy bugger is. OH ACK! GROSS! And right after that, view number TWO - the one throwing up or whatever it was doing. So. Not. Cool. And to complete the slimy quotient - a millipede at Tribal Council!
A secret meeting between the Moto5, and they agree to vote for Lilianna. Lilianna may have gotten to Alex though, as he’d keep her over Cassandra, because of her backrubs. I mean, strength. He said strength, right?
Tribal Council: Talk about Gary, and how much they miss him. Dreamz is asked about building friendships, he says he can only feel close to two. Lisi drops the whole powwow subject on him. Cassandra even goes so far as to compliment Lilianna after she says she does what she can for the tribe, helping all the guys out. Smacks of the kiss of death. Who’s got the silver?
Votes are cast, and read off: Lilianna, Lisi, Cassandra, Lilianna, Liliannna, Lilianna. The rest of the votes don’t matter, it’s clear she’s gone. (And, the rest of the votes were for her anyway.)
Lilianna is shocked but gets off a parting shot. “If they didn’t get me out now, I was gonna beat’em!” As Jeff said - seems the game is definitely being played on the Moto side.
Previews: Moto begins to fracture, hunt for the idol is on. and the gloves come off.
So, what did you all think of this episode? A lot went on that hour! Any predictions? Will Yau Man find the idol? Will this psuedo victory give Ravu the push it needs? Will Moto fracture and fall apart? Will CBS decide they love me and stop with the snake views already? Chime in! Don’t be shy!

I think that Moto’s choice of comfort over immunity is gonna cost them. With the loss of Gary and the possibility of a merge, they really can’t afford to be blase about thier numbers. Do you want an easy survivor vacation or do you want to win. It doesn’t help that they voted out one of thier strongest competitors so soon in the games, especially with Lisi sucking soooo badly in the challenge. They won that one in spite of her. I also think that the first trip to tribal really put Moto on the hot seat and forced them to look all alliance lines for the first time. It was all well and good while they were constantly winning and under no threat of a vote, but this really forced them to start in on each other for the first time. I just can’t wait to see the Rocky VS Dreamz conflict in the next episode. Good drama!
